About Mrs Hawthorne

 Hello!  I am so excited to be joining Tolar Junior High!  It is going to be a fantastic 2021-2022 School year.  I wanted to tell you a little about me.  I am a Tolar Graduate myself, I graduated with the class of 2000.  Actually, we were the first class to graduate from the High School.  I am married to my wonderful husband of 22 years, Shawn Hawthorne, and we have three amazing kids. Wyatt Hawthorne who is 21, and  our twin girls Karsyn, and Kennedy who are 14.  

This will be my 17th year to be in education. I have taught 2nd, 4th, 5th Reading, Special Education K-5 and have been the Dyslexia (4 years) and Behavioral Specialist for the last year. So, I have done a little bit of it all.  I got my Bachelor's in Education from Tarleton State University and my Master's in School Counseling from Lamar University. 

Why Counseling?

I grew up watching my dad teach and help others and that passion, he passed on to me.  I am passionate about what I do.  Each day is an opportunity to grow and learn. I hope to not only be an example of that but to also encourage and support our students. I have great dreams and ideas, and I know our students do as well!   As a team, we will accomplish great things together.  

A little bit about me..... In my free time,  I love to read, travel and spend time with my family and my dad. I love sweet tea, music, and beautiful weather!  I already know many of the kiddos here at the Junior High, but I will be working hard to familiarize myself with those I do not know yet.
